Understanding what motivates you is a superpower.
If you truly grasp what actually fuels you, you have the potential to be unstoppable.
In my experience, the answer to this question is not often the first one that comes to mind.
Unconvinced?
Look at the following list and pick the thing that fuels you.
· Survival
· Belonging
· Love
· Freedom
· Fun
· Power
· Knowledge
· Money
· Beauty
· Helping/Service
· Harmony/Balance
· Personal Beliefs
Which one did you pick? Was it the first item your eye lingered over?
Look back over the list. What is the thing that when its missing, your life just doesn’t have any drive or passion? Same item you chose first?
I find it really interesting to return to this list a day later or a week later and ask the same question. I often notice I get clearer over time.
If you are one of those people who gets immediate clarity and nothing changes, count yourself fortunate to have that level of self-awareness.
Maybe you think you are a hybrid vehicle. You can run on more than one thing: gas AND electric, or diesel AND solar (we’re having some fun here).
You may be right.
Nothing says you are limited to one and only one fuel or motivation. Each person, though, tends to have one (or just a few) preferred fuel source(s).
