What they told me about Love.

Gustav Klimt — The Kiss (1907–1908)

They told me Love would hold my hand and brush my hair. They told me Love would give me dolls and cars and balls and a sister to play with. They told me Love would give me my first kiss under the stars when the moment was just right. They told me Love would come in a white horse and save me from myself. I learned Love would come with softer skin, longer hair and a crooked smile. I learned Love would come in a different package, I learned Love would make me feel trapped, no way out, stuck and dry. And then you came, silent and all at once. You showed me Love can be compassionate and spiritual, that Love can be hidden and clear. You showed me that I could show myself to Love without secrets. I broke all the mirrors, I burned the puddles, I climbed waterfalls but when I got to the top I found myself looking Love on the face. And I ran.
