Is it a dream or a goal?

I dream of traveling to Mars.

I have a goal of becoming physically stronger and fitter.

I dream of becoming a bestselling author.

I have a goal of writing every day.

I dream of traveling the world.

I have a goal of visiting four new places this year.

Dreams are vague, ambiguous, aspirational and not always in our control of turning them into reality.

Goals are specific, they come with a plan, they shape who we are and what we do today.

We are inspired by dreams. We are motivated by dreams. Dreams give us a purpose.

We achieve goals. We make progress towards goals. We act on goals.

We need them both.

But we had better not confuse one for another.

Dreams are optional. They are good to have.

But goals are a must.
