You Were No Closer to Job Security ?

“I was disappointed that I was 28 and I was no closer to job security”.

This sentence was quite unsettling for me.

I don’t see what is the problem. I would see it, if we were 10 to 20 years before today.

Because all our mentalities changed since; all we cared about was, getting married, having 2 children, a house, and a steady job.

Because those conditions were “the way to happiness”.

But are they now ? And did it necessarily give happiness ? Were all those couples happy with 2 children to feed, a mortgage to pay and a job they hated ?

Job security, is -maybe- one way to be happy for some. I don’t even see that as security, anything can happen : business bankruptcy, getting fired, boredom, earthquake. There’s no security for me.

And even though you found a job that is sufficiently secured from having bad things happen to you, are you 100% sure you’d be happy, in forever seeking and finding job security ?

Or do you want a job you want to get up to every morning ?

Don’t you want a meaningful job that you won’t regret when your elderly years come ?
