What Is GISH?

There are not many opportunities in this world to bring true enjoyment to yourself, build real connections with others around the globe, challenge yourself to do things that you may never have even attempted nor thought of before, while making the world a better place. GISH is all of this and so much more. GISH is a place where weirdos can be themselves and find support and love. It is a platform that creativity can flow and transformation can occur. Even so, many people that are new, myself included, when first reading through the hunt list thought that this was overwhelming and that it seemed like a good idea at the time we signed up but that we may be way over our heads. That is where our captains and their unwavering direction and continued pats on the backs and reminding us of the special donuts that we are get us to continue to metaphorically put one foot in front of the other. Pain and suffering is part of the process. It contributes to the growth and development that occurs when you complete something that you thought was impossible. And to think that by finishing these insane tasks we GISHers make the world a better place is quite profound. That a star has used his celebrity and steered his fandom towards something so purely virtuous speaks to his character. I was told that throughout this process I would many times go, “Dammit Misha!” and even though things have just begun my captain was not wrong. With the world in chaos, GISH was needed more than ever. Light was needed in this world to balance out the darkness.
